'Ode to Joy', the promotional video of the Croatian Tourist Board, won a prestigious travel industry's 'Oscars' award 'Das goldene Stadttor' at the International Tourism Film Festival held on 8 March 2012. The festival is held annually as a part of International Tourism Fair ITB in Berlin. With its impressive visualisation and through the inspiring music narrative led by cellist Ana Rucner, the film highlights the rich cultural, historical and natural heritage of Croatia as well as many Croatian beauties.

Sailing in Kvarner

After Zagreb and Split, in terms of population, Rijeka is the third largest city in Croatia and due to its geographical position, also the most important Croatian seaport.
Korzo is the city’s main promenade and is also known as the heart of Rijeka. You can find beaches either in the eastern or in the western part of the city.

Sailing Estuary

Rijeka is an old harbor city and at the same time probably the most important city of the Kvarner bay, also Rijeka forms the northern end of the bay. The Kvarner Bay is a preferred area for sailors, because the Rijeka area does not have large waves and when there is Bura or Jugo it is protected by islands from all sides. The Kvarner islands are pleasant for sailing when is Bura, Maestral and Jugo, with many protected bays and a beautiful landscape.

Kvarner is a very popular sailing destination with wonderful bays, hidden beaches, charming towns and modern marinas. The Kvarner region is located between Istria and Dalmatia and its the oldest Croatian destination for tourism. In the 19th century Kvarner was an important destination for the richest people from Europe, and because of that on Kvarner you can find the most beautiful villas and hotels from the 19 th century.

Kvarner is also known for its health tourism due to the continental and Mediterranean climate, so Kvarner is the first center in the world for asthma and bronchitis, top wellness, many cycling trails, walks along with medicinal herbs, diving, sailing, dental polyclinics and health- terme.

Five of the most important islands in the Kvarner are Krk, Cres, Lošinj, Rab and northern Pag. These islands are completely different, but each is interesting in its own way, while the northern pag is adapted to the younger population of tourists such as Spanish Ibiza.
Cres and Krk are adapted to family tourism with an agricultural component of production of fruits, vegetables, meat and olive oil.
The island of Lošinj is adapted for elite guests with top hotels and campgrounds, while the island of Rab is full of history and sandy beaches. One of the smaller islands in Kvarner is the island of Susak which is different from all 1244 islands in Croatia because it is entirely made of sand. From Susak comes interesting wine from the Kozlovich family as well as the first mini dresses in the world. In Kvarner there is also the most exlusive bay that has linked the history of modernity and luxury from the 19 th century till today.
In the bay of Čikat the most demanding tourists can be completely satisfied. On Lošinj they will start to build the two largest and most expensive golf playgrounds with 18 holes in Croatia.


Kvarner is the best entertainment destination in Croatia. The largest carnival in Croatia and in this part of Europe is held in the city Rijeka, which has over 10,000 participants in the final stage. Rijeka is 8 months of the year the biggest party destination on the coast in Croatia with many nightclubs, discos and bars. In the summer, the party moves to the island Pag and the northern part of the island of Pag becomes one of the best party zones in the world with the best Dj’s and events. On the islands Cres and Lošinj are many concerts of classical music on Osor music evenings and Lubenice music nights. The Islands Krk and Rab organize many parties in nightclubs as well as festivals in the middle of their cities.
In Kvarner there is also the city of Opatija, which is like the Italian San Remo host of the most important Croatian music events and elections for Miss Croatia and Miss Universe Croatia. In Opatija there is located a big summer stage close to the sea where the worlds renowned musicians have performed. Croatia is an important congress center for the most educated people of the world.


In Rijeka there is a central station and a bus station. There is also a ferry port 350 meters from the city promenade.
In addition, countless restaurants and shops can be found in the city.
Marina Rijeka is located in the very center of the city with all the usual facilities, and many other interesting places. Rijeka is a great place for buying domestic products at the market, and there is the largest fish market in Croatia, there are a lot of shops, bars, restaurants, post offices, banks, theaters, museums and all accompanying contents nearby. There is 1850 meter long promenade „Molo Longo“ where its nice to walk.


Kvarner has a rich gastronomic offer. The Kvarner squid and the Kvarner skampi are the biggest and most delicious in Kvarner, and the Cres lamb is delighted by the greatest food lovers.The flavors of awarded olive oils from the island of Krk and Cres as well as the unique wine of Vrbnik – žlahtina that grows only in Kvarner have been delighting for tourists for more than 100 years. There are many food festivals in Kvarner such as the festival of chestnuts, the festival of sardines, the asparagus festival and the chocolate festival.

There are numerous shops on the adjacent harbor promenade.
ZTC is the largest shopping center in Rijeka, with over 50 shops, several cafés and restaurants.
Within the marina area there are a few super markets with an excellent array of goods for the daily needs of tourists.
There is a market with domestic products, fresh fruits, vegetables and of course the biggest fish market in Croatia.

Gas Station

The next gas station for boats is at the neighbouring port of Opatija, 5 nautical miles away.
Important! The next filling station is on the island of Krk, Cres or in the town Crkvenica.

The marina Rijeka is only about 30 km from Rijeka international airport, Transfer time is approx. 20 minutes and can be organised for you in advance. The distance to the other airports is: Pula 99 km, Transfer time is approx.1 hour; Zagreb 180 km, Transfer time is approx 2 hours; Trieste 104 km, Transfer time is approx. 1.30 hour; Ljubljana 130 km, Transfer time is approx.1.50 hours; Venezia 216km, Transfer time is approx. 2.40 hours.
The port of Rijeka is easily reached by car.


If you arrive by plane, we will gladly arrange your transfer by taxi, minivan or shuttle bus and bring you to the marina.
